Not only are we a team of specialists in our individual fields, we act as specialist consultants to other architects who need high-level building conservation advice or technical guidance.

We are delighted our practice includes Scholars of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, accredited architects in building conservation and recognised technical advisors.

This is a team which designs knowing the technicalities of the materials they work with. Whether it is a new-build, conservation, or historic building repair, it is this practical understanding which singles out Crosby Granger as award-winning leaders in their field.

Technical Expertise

We pride ourselves in being practical, technical architects who cannot only design, but understand the technicalities of materials that we work with. Whether that be in new-build design, or conservation and repair of historic buildings, an understanding of the materials and building pathology of an existing building is essential.

Courses & Events

We are experienced in organising and tutoring on practical heritage skills courses. Past courses include one-day to three-day courses on lime, (including mortars, plasters and decorative plaster), stone conservation, stone carving, earth walling, chalk walling, and gypsum-plaster floor repairs, as well as general courses covering a wide range of building repair and philosophy for contractors and homeowners.

Architects Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC)

The AABC is the building conservation accreditation register for Architects in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland have their own equivalent, administered through the RIAS.

Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB)

The SPAB is Britain’s oldest building conservation body. It was set up by William Morris in 1877 to oppose the destructive restorations of the Victorian era and promote conservative repair to save historic fabric from irrecoverable damage or loss.

Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC)

A Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) is the committee who reviews applications for works to church buildings, be it repair, re-ordering, or large-scale alteration, conservation or extension works.

Our condition survey will inform future phases of work which will add long term resilience and durability to this wonderful Grade II* Castle by Paley and Austin. has been converted into apartments.
