Read moreAt Crosby Granger Architects, we understand that estates are more than just land, they are living, breathing legacies. Drawing from over a decade of excellence in heritage and conservation architecture, we have expanded our expertise to offer comprehensive Whole Estate Plans (WEPs) that empower estate owners to safeguard their heritage, enhance their environment, and achieve economic sustainability.
A Whole Estate Plan is more than a strategic document; it is a visionary roadmap. It balances economic viability, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, three pillars that underpin sustainable estate management. Our award-winning team brings unparalleled knowledge of heritage landscapes, conservation principles, and contemporary design to craft bespoke WEPs tailored to each estate’s unique story, challenges, and ambitions.
Our approach to Whole Estate Planning is collaborative and holistic. We guide estates through every stage of the WEP process, as outlined by the Lake District National Park and other national frameworks: from inception and early consultation, through drafting and stakeholder engagement, to final endorsement. We ensure each plan aligns with policy requirements while capturing the distinct identity of the estate. By blending rigorous research, asset analysis, and vision-setting, we help estates create strategies that unlock funding opportunities, guide sustainable development, and act as material planning considerations for future projects.
We recently delivered the Whole Estate Plan for Higham Estate—a landmark project that showcases our ability to navigate complex landscapes and stakeholder needs. Working closely with estate owners, tenants, local communities, and the Lake District National Park Authority, we developed a plan that protects ecological assets, conserves cultural heritage, and identifies diversification opportunities. From assessing heritage buildings to mapping habitats, we provided a comprehensive overview of the estate’s assets and a practical action plan for the next 10–20 years.
Choosing Crosby Granger Architects means partnering with a practice rooted in understated design excellence, technical leadership and unwavering commitment. We bring a wealth of experience—from conserving medieval castles to designing inspirational modern spaces—and apply meticulous attention to every project. We are uniquely positioned to help estates articulate their vision, create actionable strategies, and futureproof their landscapes for generations to come.
Whether you seek to unlock the economic potential of underused buildings, enhance biodiversity, improve community engagement, or navigate the complexities of heritage and planning policy, we offer a proven process and a trusted team to guide you. Our expertise ensures that your Whole Estate Plan doesn’t just comply—it inspires, empowers, and endures.
Let us help you shape your estate’s next chapter with a Whole Estate Plan that reflects your values, amplifies your impact, and secures your legacy.
Pleasington Priory is a stunning example of early 19th-century Gothic Revival architecture - full of history and character.
But after 200-plus years of Lancashire weather, time and rain have taken their toll. Water is getting in through worn-out stonework and joints, especially around the iconic west façade and rose window.
We are doing a series of repairs and improvements to the building - resolving damp, leaks, surface water management and making improvements generally to aid its ability to manage the changing weather patterns and long term durability.
These repairs are vital to the long-term future of the building, in order to enhance and conserve the church and ensure it remains a viable place of worship and a heritage asset of national importance.
